Climate Change

The government of British Columbia is moving aggressively on energy and emissions reduction policies.

If your community has signed the Climate Action Charter, it must be carbon neutral by 2012
Carbon neutrality will require that residual emissions be offset: will your community pay for offsets or sell them?
Recent changes to the Local Government Act require local governments to include energy and emissions reduction plans in OCPs.
Federal infrastructure grants increasingly include a GHG emissions reduction requirement

Rural Futures has teamed up with Hemmera Energy and Environmental Engineers to assist local governments to formulate and achieve energy and emissions objectives.

Our unique partnership of energy experts and economic development experts means we can:

develop energy and emission plans that have economic development objectives
integrate offset planning into economic development
link local/regional energy projects to energy security and economic development

I invite you to contact Rural Futures about how we can assist your community.
